The senior, or semi-pro level, serves players who have exhausted the junior and/or university playing eligibility. It is currently being represented by the Ottawa Invaders of the Northern Football Conference. In their inaugural season in 2010, the Invaders notched a 3-4-1 record.
Undeniably, the first big "splash" at the level was created by the Ottawa Bootleggers. Playing for the most part out of the Empire Football League (and therefore by American rules) the Bootleggers were often dominant against the U.S. teams.
The Ottawa Deacon Demons, a team moved from Montreal, also competed in the Empire Football League but in their six years, they were not able to achieve a winning record. Several of the core players from that team have gone on to play for the Invaders.
