January 27th: My favourite part of this Ottawa Business Journal article about the new Ottawa U. field is the following:
The university will also rent out the facility to community groups for a fee, creating another revenue stream.
It comes as little surprise, but it's good to see a confirmation nonetheless. And I look forward to seeing who takes advantage of it.
Not that I want to see other fields affected negatively by the addition of this one but I do want local teams to have options. It sometimes appears as though the current fields are stretched to their limits. Combined, the new Ottawa U. field, recent improvements to Millenium Park and upcoming renovations to Carleton's Keith Harris Stadium will result in significant upgrades to facilities for local clubs, which is exciting news from a fan's perspective.
