St. Brigid's Saints
This is the team with which the Ottawa Rough Riders are said to have merged in 1925, though an Ottawa Citizen article from 1923 makes reference to "quiet" merger between the two that year, and no Saints scores are to be found beyond that latter year.
That being the case, additional claims that the merger caused the Rough Riders to change their name to "Senators" are also rather dubious since there are records of the Ottawa Club being referred to as the Senators dating back as far as 1915.
Ottawa Citizen, Aug 26th, 1920: The St. Brigid's Football Club, last year's champion, was reorganized for the coming season's campaign in the city rugby league..."Silver" Quilty...will again have charge of the purple, green and white...

Despite a great deal of local success, the loss to St. Thomas would be the last anyone would see of the Rideaus due to a brawl in the dying minutes. Here's how the Ottawa Citizen from December 2nd, 1929, describes it:
"...it appeared as if Hoddy Foster, the referee, ordered Johnson from the field. Words were exchanged, Johnson pushed Foster's hand away from him, and, in less time than it takes to tell it, the field was a maelstrom of surgin humanity some two or three hundred spectators having rushed out from the sidelines."
"Several St. Thomas players...were roughly handled - in fact were beaten up - and the Tigres literally fought their way to their bus..."

Ottawa Rangers
This team appears to be, for all intents and purposes, a replacement for the Rideau Aquatic Club squad which suspended operations in 1929. However, rather than participate in a local division of the QRFU, as the Rideau's did, they would represent the entire region.
Ottawa Citizen, Sept 9th, 1930: "While every rugby player who wishes to to turn out is asked to be present, emphasis will be made by the executive in attempting to bring members of all four teams in last year's junior league under the colors (sic) of the new team"
Ottawa Citizen, Oct 3rd, 1930: "The new uniforms...are purple and white stripes, with numbers on a purple block. The stockings are solid purple with a faint white stripe"
They did also enter a team in the junior city league, though whether that league had an affiliation with an established union is unclear at this time.
Notable players for the Rangers include team captain Arnie Morrison. Suspended "for life" for his participation in the 1929 fight while a member of the Rideau's (see above), he would be reinstated in 1931 and later go on to play for the Rough Riders. Following his playing career, Morrison became one of the first coaches for the Carleton Ravens in the mid-40's.
Another former Ranger to make history is one Andy Tommy, now a member of the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame, gaining his first major football experience as a 19-year old in 1931.
